RETIREMENT OF FF JEFF MARSDEN
Congratulations to Firefighter Jeffrey E. Marsden on his retirement from active service with the Cherry Hill Fire Department effective February 1, 2026.
Firefighter Marsden began his firefighting career on January 15, 2001 in Recruit Class 01-01—an orientation class of two firefighters. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Engine 1352 A Platoon until September 2003 when he was transferred to Squad 13/Hazmat 13 on the C Platoon. FF Marsden responded with other members of Haz Mat 13, as a Hazardous Materials Task Force to New Orleans, LA in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He conducted hazmat assessments, searches and decontamination in turn receiving a unit recognition for these efforts.
In November 2006, Jeff was transferred to the B Platoon remaining at Squad 13. In January of 2007, Firefighter Marsden was transferred to Ladder 1344 on the B Platoon. In 2013, Jeff was transferred to Rescue Ladder13/USAR 13 where he remained until his retirement.
In January, 2017, Jeff was awarded a Departmental Unit Citation for his participation in rescuing a civilian from a dwelling fire. In November of the same year, FF Marsden received a Departmental Meritorious Service Citation for his assistance in subduing a suspect that was assaulting a Cherry Hill Police patrol officer in a lot adjacent to the firehouse. As a member of USAR 13 Jeff also received a Unit Citation Award for his actions taken in removing a pedestrian from underneath a train that occurred on January of 2020 and was recognized in 2011 for actions taken while on a Countywide Swiftwater Task force response to Manville, New Jersey after severe flooding trapped many residents.
Along with these notable awards, Jeff has received numerous Departmental Accolades reflecting the pride he took in his service to the public. On November 4, 2022, while off-duty, Jeff along with two police officers rescued an occupant from a burning Barrington home prior to the arrival of the Barrington Fire Department. He was presented with a Life Saving Award due for his heroic actions by the Borough of Barrington.
Firefighter Marsden’s last day with the Fire Department was on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
