RETIREMENT OF FF ED MORRIS
Congratulations to Firefighter Edward J. Morris, III on his retirement from active service with the Cherry Hill Fire Department effective February 1, 2026.
Firefighter Morris began his firefighting career on January 15, 2001 in Recruit Class 01-01, an orientation class of two firefighters. Prior to his full time hiring, Ed served as a volunteer with the Erlton Fire Company and also served as a part-time Minimum Staff Firefighter with the Department. Upon his academy graduation, he was assigned to Engine 1362/Hazmat 13 C Platoon until January 2002 when he was transferred to Ladder 1344 B Platoon. In May 2022, Ed was transferred to the Field Command Office as a B Platoon Float Firefighter. While assigned to the FCO, he contributed to the Fire Station 22 Design Team which assisted in the design and construction of the new Kings Highway Firehouse. FF Morris was transferred to Engine 1322 C Platoon in December 2002. Ed held this assignment until September 2008 where he remained at Engine 1322, but transferred to A Platoon. He received a Departmental Staff Achievement with Distinction Award in 2011, for the key role he played in the design of the Township’s 911 Memorial located at Fire Headquarters. In May of 2015, Ed was transferred to Squrt 1341 A Platoon until June 2021 when he returned to Engine 1322 A Platoon where he remained until his retirement.
Firefighter Morris has received numerous Accolades for assisting residents during various emergency calls throughout his years of dedicated service.
Ed was also instrumental in getting the Department’s Pre-Plan Drawing Program established and ensuring members were able to utilize the program effectively to capture this valuable information for the Department.
Firefighter Morris worked his final shift on Wednesday, December 17th.
