Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters congratulate Rich Oberle on his promotion to Captain and Shaun Ferguson on his promotion to Lieutenant, both effective September 18, 2025.

Captain Oberle graduated from Recruit Academy Class 06-01 and was assigned to Squrt 1331/Rescue 13. He has served in numerous assignments during his tenure as a Firefighter, working at Ladder 1324, Squad Company 13, Squrt 1351 and 1341 and Engine 1322, prior to his promotion to Lieutenant. Captain Oberle was promoted to Lieutenant in 2019 and was assigned to Squrt 1341 on the C Platoon where he served until receiving his new assignment as the Captain of Engine 1352 A Platoon. Captain Oberle is a member of the Cancer Prevention Committee and serves as the Union President for Local 3198. He has an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Camden County College. He resides in Waterford Township and was joined by his wife, Cindi, and son, Eric.

Lieutenant Ferguson graduated from Fire Academy Class 16-24 and was assigned to Squad 13/Hazmat 13C Platoon until his promotion to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Ferguson holds certifications as a Fire Office II, Fire Instructor II, Incident Safety Officer, Hazmat Technician, Rope, Collapse and Trench Rescue Technician. Heis a lead member of the CHFD’s mental performance team and a member of the Leadership Under Fire instructor cadre. He serves on the Recruit Academy Command Staff, Fire Instructor for Mental Performance, Engine Company Operations and Hazardous Materials Response and Honor Guard Committees. Lieutenant Ferguson is attending the Community College of the Air Force and served 10 years in the New Jersey Air National Guard in both the United States and abroad. Lieutenant Ferguson resides in Barrington and was joined by his wife, Kasey, two daughters, Ellie, Isla and parents Bill and Janet Ferguson.
