CONGRESSMAN DONALD NORCROSS ANNOUNCES FEMA GRANT AWARDS TO CHFD TO SUPPORT STAFFING, EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING

Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters were honored to be on hand on Monday, November 20, 2023, at a press conference at Cherry Hill Fire Department (CHFD) Headquarters with Congressman Donald Norcross and multiple local, county, and state officials to highlight the awarding of several federal grants to support local firefighter staffing, equipment, and training initiatives.

The CHFD received an FY2022 FEMA Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant (SAFER) grant of more than $2.6million to support hiring eight firefighters. These firefighters are currently in the CHFD Recruit Academy and will be hitting the streets by early December. The CHFD also received two FY2022 FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) totaling nearly $725,000 to support several training, equipment, and technology initiatives.

Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters are proud to work tirelessly alongside the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Professional Firefighters of New Jersey (PFANJ) to advocate for opportunities that support the safety of our fire and EMS personnel and the communities we serve.

We thank Congressman Norcross, State Senator Jim Beach, Assemblyman Bill Moen, Camden County Commissioner Melinda Hopkins Kane, Cherry Hill Township Mayor Susan Shin Angulo, Cherry Hill Police Department Chief Robert Kempf, Cherry Hill Fire Commissioners William P. Kelly, John J. Mulholland, Jr. and Ryan Doran, PFANJ President Matt Caliente, Camden County IAFF Local 3249 President Keith Kemery and many members of the CHFD and other area public safety agencies for joining Cherry Hill Firefighters IAFF Local2663 President James Lyons and Cherry Hill Fire Officers IAFF Local 3198 President Rich Oberle at today's important announcement.

After the press conference several of our members were honored to give our special guests a tour of our training grounds while our current recruit academy class participated in a hands-on training exercise.
