Frequently Asked Questions

Your mental well-being, safety, and confidentiality are our top priorities. We do not report to any administration. Find answers to common questions about our mission, services, and how we support firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers.

What kind of emotional or mental challenges might CHFD members face?

CHFD members may experience physical and emotional stress due to the nature of their work. Common challenges include feeling overwhelmed, struggles in relationships, substance dependence, feeling isolated, grief, or general emotional confusion.

What is CHFD One and how can it help me?

CHFD One is a peer-to-peer support program that helps CHFD members and their families connect with confidential mental, behavioral, and emotional health resources. It’s designed to provide guidance and support during stressful or difficult times.

Is the support from CHFD One confidential?

Yes. All assistance offered through CHFD One, including peer support and referrals to professional resources, is strictly confidential.

How do I reach someone if I need help right away?

Your Local Presidents are available 24/7 to help connect you to the appropriate support. Additionally, CHFD One Peer Support Members have their direct phone numbers posted in all CHFD stations for immediate contact.

Is CHFD One support available for family members too?

Yes. Support is available not only for Cherry Hill Fire Department members but also for their families during emotionally difficult times.

Support When You Need It Most – On or Off the Job

Members of the Cherry Hill Fire Department can expect to encounter situations and calls for duty that will cause both physical and emotional stress and strain. Members approach their jobs with a supreme sense of confidence – a trait that enables them to go above and beyond to keep their communities safe. However, that feeling of invincibility sometimes allows them to bottle up too much of their emotions without knowing how to manage them.

These emotional times can include, but are not limited to:

  • Feeling tired, overwhelmed, or confused
  • Home not feeling like home
  • Relationship or marriage struggles
  • Dependence on alcohol or other substances
  • Feeling alone
  • Losing hope
  • Losing a loved one
  • Not knowing why you feel the way you do

If you are experiencing personal problems due to on- or off-the-job stress and need assistance, help is not far away.

The CHFD One program offers peer-to-peer support and can help you find professional resources you may need. We want all Cherry Hill Fire Department members and their families to know that support is available through multiple confidential resources during these emotionally charged times.

Your Local Presidents are available 24/7 to help you connect with the peer, mental, and behavioral health support that you may need. In addition, CHFD One Peer Support Members have their direct phone numbers posted in all CHFD stations.
